World Tobacco Day is celebrated globally on May 31st every year to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption on both individuals and society. Jungshina Primary School celebrated World Tobacco Day with the theme “We Need Food, Not Tobacco”. The event was organized to educate students about the dangers of tobacco use and encourage them to adopt healthier habits.
During the event, the Health Coordinator of the school, Madam Pema Lhadon, delivered a morning speech highlighting the negative impact of tobacco on our health. She discussed how tobacco use can lead to various illnesses such as lung cancer, heart disease, and stroke. Madam Pema also emphasized the importance of healthy eating habits and the benefits of maintaining a balanced diet.
To reinforce the message of the event, banners were hung from the corridors and every corner of the school. These banners served as a reminder to students to stay away from tobacco and make healthy choices. The event was a success in raising awareness about the risks of tobacco use and promoting healthy habits among the students..# www.jps.edu.bt
